Nod to A Pod: ‘We Can Do Hard Things’

Updated: Oct 19, 2023

WITH GLENNON DOYLE

From the author of the book Untamed, the podcast is an honest conversation about doing hard things. As Glennon Doyle states in the podcast description, we are all doing hard things - we win and we lose, we grieve, we struggle with work, lose friends, battle addiction - and strive for joy, peace, and purpose. The hosts Glennon, Abbey, and Amanda talk about the hard so we can all live a little brighter and feel less alone. I joined their "pod squad" after listening to my first episode, "How to Make Wrongs Right with Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg." I learned Judaism has a structured process for repentance and making amends. Seriously, everyone needs to listen to this podcast. It will test some of your ideas about forgiveness. Some topics include:

  1. Why we should stop expecting people to forgive.

  2. Rabbi Danya's five step-by-step process for repairing a relationship.

  3. What makes a good - and a terrible - apology.

  4. What to do (and not to say) if you want to make amends and change.

  5. Why repentance is a process that has nothing to do with the one who was hurt.

After listening to this episode, I was eager to get Rabbi Danya's book "On Repentance and Repair: Making Amends in an Unapologetic World," and also tried not to cry listening to Glennon's daughter sing the podcast theme song...
