More About Reiki

Reiki is an energy-based healing modality that originated in India and then spread through Tibet and China before being rediscovered in Japan. The practice is at least 2,500 years old. "Rei," meaning spiritual wisdom, and "Ki," meaning life force, is divinely guided life force energy that knows each being completely and where healing is needed in the body.

During a reiki session, the practitioner goes into a meditative state and places their hands on or above the body's chakras and joints to channel healing energy where needed.

Reiki can help:

  • relieve stress, anxiety, and pain,

  • improve issues related to sleep, digestion, mental blocks, and

  • initiate the body's natural healing for illness, trauma, and disease.

The benefits of reiki are multiple. It helps with physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual rebalancing. People often leave a session feeling deeply relaxed and spiritually recharged. They experience lightness and wellness for days after, as the body is reinvigorated with energy flowing throughout.

What are chakras? There are seven main chakras, or energy centers, in the body. These wheels of energy correspond to different emotions and organs of the body. When all the chakras are open and in balance with each other, energy runs through them freely and harmony exists in body, mind, and spirit.

Reiki helps restore this balance.

What to Expect

You can expect a comfortable, quiet, relaxing setting during your treatment session. I will have already meditated and opened a sacred space for you, where we will be divinely guided for healing for your highest good.

For the first ten minutes, you will share with me what you would like to work on or get out of the treatment (a review of your intake form). You will then lie down on a massage table, where I transmit healing energy to your chakras and joints through sacred hand techniques to a backdrop of relaxing music.

It's usually a relaxing experience where people go into a deep meditative space and sometimes fall asleep. However, in rare circumstances, some people experience uneasiness, and this is normal, especially when working on trauma, anxiety, or grief. Whatever you experience is okay, and I can help you navigate any unease should it arise.

We spent the last twenty minutes debriefing the experience, sharing insights we gained. You should leave feeling relaxed and lighter. You will also leave with "food for thought" on how to approach issues. And you may have dreams that provide further understanding.
